Companies demonstrate Release-17 NTN networks

Anritsu Corporation announces its involvement as a Test and Measurement partner in two groundbreaking demonstrations of 3GPP Rel-17 compliant Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) technology at the 2025 5GAA meetings in Paris. These demonstrations presented the first measurements of their kind, highlighting the readiness of the technology and ecosystem to transform automotive safety.

In collaboration with industry leaders such as BMW Group, Deutsche Telekom, Viasat, and Skylo, Anritsu contributed to successful measurements of end-to-end NTN Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The joint effort focused on showcasing the feasibility and effectiveness of use cases like local hazard warning and emergency messaging. Another collaboration with LG Electronics, Cubic3, Viasat, and Skylo centered on demonstrating the capability to support use cases such as Voice over NTN and seamless network switching.

During the Use Case testing, Anritsu and partners demonstrated successful end-to-end latency and reliability over NTN through a unique measurement solution utilizing the Network Master Pro MT1000A and virtual testers. This was integrated into live demonstration environments to measure between the car and the application server.

These use cases underscore the pivotal role NTN can play in enhancing road safety by delivering timely alerts to drivers, pedestrians, and stakeholders even in areas without cellular coverage. This helps mitigate accidents and improve emergency response times. The successful demonstration of these use cases emphasizes the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving technological progress. Anritsu remains committed to advancing NTN technology through partnerships with industry leaders for societal well-being and growth.
